Balance Sheet assistance

I am a real estate agent. I'm filing as an S Corp for the first time this year. Used to file as just an LLC. I need to create balance sheet and Profit and Loss statements. I know how to do the majority of it, but need assistance in understanding opening equity and retained earnings for the balance sheet.
