The successful applicant will be responsible for all accounting functions. The Accounting Clerk will report to and work closely with management.
General Duties
• Check, verify and enter payable invoices and payments, receivable invoices as well as other miscellaneous items.
• Support month-end and year end processes
• Complete & process payroll for approval
• Prepare government & agency remittances such as payroll, WSIB, HST, HVUT, ect.
• Record and process payments
• Daily entry of key data of financial transactions in database
• Update and maintain accounting journals and ledgers
• Reconcile accounts in a timely manner
• Complete monthly reconciliation for all accounts
• Enter , Track and manage On-going loads using Xpert
• Prepare monthly commission reports
• Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities
• Maintain up-to-date, complete and systematic filing system to support bookkeeping and financial records
• Perform clerical and administrative support
Required Skills & Experience
• Proven bookkeeping experience
• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
• Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral
• Ability to prioritize and manage a constantly fluctuating workload with capability of adhering to strict deadlines
• Ability to hand sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Post-Secondary education in a related field
• 3+ years of experience in an accounting position an asset
• Experience with QuickBooks Desktop Software an asset
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Must have excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
• Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently
