Manual PDF Accessibility Remediation
Budget: $8 – $15 USD
I have a collection of more than twenty-one business-oriented PDFs that must be manually remediated so every reader, including users of assistive technology, can navigate them with ease. My priority is full compliance with the WCAG 2.x success criteria and the PDF/UA specification; automated fixes are not acceptable—the files have to be reviewed and tagged by hand.
Each document currently lacks correct reading order, semantic tagging, alt-text, bookmarks and form-field descriptions. When the work is complete I need to be able to run PAC 2021 (or an equivalent validator) without errors and verify usability with NVDA or JAWS.
Acceptance criteria
• Logical reading order and hierarchical heading structure
• Proper tagging for lists, tables, figures and decorative elements
• Descriptive alt-text and artifacting where appropriate
• Bookmarks that mirror the heading outline
• Passed checks in PAC 2021 and a quick functional review with NVDA
Please use whichever combination of Adobe Acrobat Pro, Foxit PDF Editor, CommonLook, axesPDF QuickFix or similar tools you prefer, as long as the final files meet the standards above and remain visually unchanged. Provide the remediated PDFs plus a brief compliance report for each one when finished.
