Accessibility Audit of Mac Desktop Application (Section 508 Compliance)
Project Overview
We are looking for a freelancer with experience in macOS accessibility to conduct a high-level accessibility audit of a productivity software application. The goal is to assess whether the application meets Section 508 accessibility standards. The freelancer will step through the application and evaluate its usability for individuals with disabilities using VoiceOver and keyboard-only navigation.
Scope of Work
• Conduct a high-level review of the application’s accessibility.
• Use VoiceOver (macOS screen reader) and keyboard-only navigation to assess usability.
• Identify major accessibility barriers that impact users with disabilities.
• Document findings in a structured report format (VPAT - Voluntary Product Accessibility Template).
• Provide suggested fixes where possible.
Deliverables
• A spreadsheet-based report following the VPAT format, listing:
• Identified accessibility issues
• Relevant Section 508 criteria
• Suggested remediations (if applicable)
Requirements
• Prior experience auditing macOS applications for accessibility.
• Familiarity with Section 508 standards and macOS assistive technologies.
• Ability to complete the audit within one week.
