Professional Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Frontend Developer (Accessibility / UI) to design and deliver accessible, high-performance user interfaces for public-sector, education, and NGO clients. The ideal candidate is a frontend engineering specialist with deep expertise in accessibility standards, modern React-based ecosystems, and scalable design systems, with a strong track record of building inclusive digital services.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development of accessible user interfaces in line with WCAG 2.1 AA / AAA standards.

Architect and implement frontend solutions using React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS.

Define and maintain accessible design systems and reusable UI components.

Ensure progressive enhancement, mobile-first design, and cross-device compatibility.

Optimise frontend performance using Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals, and performance profiling tools.

Implement internationalisation (i18n), including multilingual and RTL (right-to-left) content rendering.

Conduct accessibility audits and testing using automated and manual techniques.

Review and mentor other frontend developers to maintain accessibility-first standards.

Collaborate with UX designers, backend engineers, and product stakeholders.

Support accessibility compliance documentation and statements for regulated delivery.

Engagement & Commercial Terms

Freelance / Contract (Hourly Rate Basis)

Engagement billed per hour, with hours agreed in advance

Timesheets submitted weekly or monthly, as agreed

Remote-first delivery, with occasional collaboration sessions if required

Ongoing or project-based engagement depending on programme needs
