Assistive Technology Implementation Plan

I’m putting together a practical roadmap that helps our school embed assistive technology into daily classroom practice so every learner—especially those with disabilities—can participate fully. The core of the project is student-centred support: identifying the right devices, software, and workflows that turn our special-education goals into real-world access.

What I already have
• Baseline data on student needs, IEP goals, and current hardware
• A modest inventory of Chromebooks and iPads that could be repurposed

Where I need your expertise
• A gap analysis that links individual learning barriers to specific assistive tools (screen readers, AAC apps, switch-accessible devices, text-to-speech, etc.)
• Recommendations for procurement or open-source options, including license costs, maintenance, and compatibility with Google Workspace for Education
• An integration plan that covers classroom setup, device management, and data privacy considerations under IDEA and FERPA
• Step-by-step guidance sheets and short video demos teachers can reference for setup and troubleshooting
• A monitoring template so our Special Education team can track student outcomes and tweak supports over time

Acceptance criteria
1. A written implementation guide (≈15 pages) delivered in Google Docs, clearly mapping student profiles to recommended tech and usage scenarios.
2. A one-page budget outline with low-, mid-, and high-cost pathways.
3. At least three ready-to-use teacher resources: a quick-start slide deck, a printable checklist, and a two-minute screencast.
4. All materials align with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and reference current IDEA regulations.
