OVERVIEW
The purpose of this assignment is to practice oral communication through a narrated PowerPoint.
A narrated PowerPoint is a PowerPoint presentation with your voice narration on the
presentation. In this assignment, you will prepare one slide of content and will orally present
your research proposal by just talking about it on camera. In this presentation, you are expected
to describe your project without reading and demonstrate your knowledge of your research area
and proposed study through this 10–15-minute discussion of your topic and study. The goal of
this assignment is to assess your ability to talk about your research.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Please prepare a 1-slide PowerPoint that includes the following:
• Title of your project at the top of the slide.
• 1-2 statements of background research.
• Purpose Statement
• Research Questions
2. On the slide, record a video narration of you describing your topic and study. Your
narration should not be read and needs to include you talking on camera about the
following:
a. Description of the background research that sets the foundation for your study.
b. Description of the gap in the research that your study will fill.
c. Description of the Purpose of your proposed study and Research Questions.
d. Description of the proposed research methodology.
Note: The Narrated PowerPoint should be clear and casually spoken (not read). You are
expected to be on camera, in addition to providing a narrated description of your topic
and proposed study. As you are preparing this PowerPoint, imagine you have been asked
to share your research study in a lab meeting, just casually talking about your area and
study. Record a 10–15-minute video narration to include with your 1-slide PowerPoint.
