Mathematics Paper Formatting and Editing

Job ID: 40398373

Budget: $50 – $0 AUD

I need an experienced editor to improve the quality of three applied mathematics papers.

Key tasks include:
- Select a suitable journal
- Rewriting abstract, introduction and conclusions if necessary
- Formatting to journal standards
- Formatting citations and references to journal style

Ideal skills and experience:
- Expertise in either pure or applied mathematics
- Familiarity with selected journal requirements
- Strong editing skills, especially for academic papers
- Experience with journal citation and referencing styles

Work in more detail.
1. Select a suitable journal (or journals) to submit the papers to. The journal has to be a mathematics or science journal with a large readership. Any journal with a large readership will do, it doesn’t have to be the most reputable one.
2. Reformat the three papers into a form suitable for submission. Rewrite the abstract, conclusions, references, and fix the font, paragraph layout, number of figures, figure placement and figure titles to conform to the journal’s submission standards. Find peers for peer review if necessary.
3. Submit the papers. A quick check with me before submission.

Topic. I’ve called these three papers “Banishing divergence” Part 1 to Part 3. The first two parts have already been accepted by ArXiv. The third part has been rejected by ArXiv, possibly because of poor quality references or extravagant claims in the abstract.

The central argument behind the three papers is that real analysis has two different definitions of the epsilon-delta limit, and the two lead to contradictory results when applied to Robinson’s hyperreal numbers. I create a new definition of limit on the hyperreal numbers using Hardy’s evaluation of divergent series. Robinson’s standard part function reduces the result back to the real numbers.

The result is that many sequences, series, integrals, derivatives and functions that are currently dismissed as divergent, now converge to a usable evaluation.
