Freshman/sophomore English Analysis Writing Tutor
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I need help guiding a first-year high-school student through the kind of close reading and persuasive writing that set the foundation for upper-level English classes. The focus is three-fold:
• Literary analysis: walking through plot, character, and figurative language so my student can speak and write about how each element works in both classic novels and modern short stories.
• Writing essays: building clear thesis statements, structured body paragraphs, and polished conclusions, while reinforcing grammar and voice along the way.
• Understanding themes: tracing big ideas across different texts and learning to support those insights with direct sources
an even mix of canonical works and contemporary short fiction—and we can meet online once a week. After each session I’d like brief written feedback outlining progress and the next steps so I can track growth.
If you have a knack for making literary concepts click with freshmen and can model solid essay structure in real time, let’s set up our first session.
