SPIRITUAL FORMATION OF THE COUNSELOR ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
Understanding spiritual formation is vital for the life of any Christian. Spiritual formation is the
process through which one’s faith is deepened, and spiritual growth takes place. For a Christian,
spiritual formation is the process of being formed into the likeness of Jesus Christ through the
power of the Holy Spirit. As seen in 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV) which says, "And we all, who
with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with
ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." We see here that
contemplation is our part and transformation comes from God.
INSTRUCTIONS
For this assignment, you will write a 3 page paper, not including the title page and reference
page, discussing your personal spiritual formation, sharing your experience with 2 spiritual
practices, and concluding with a discussion on the significance of the counselor’s personal
spiritual formation on integrative counseling. An abstract is not needed. Cite the required sources
in current APA format for the second and third sections. Use the headings below in bold for the
