Editing manuscript for journal publication in Architecture

Job ID: 33443759

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

Editing and proofreading the manuscript related to identity and contemporary architecture in Saudi Arabia and addressing the below comments:
Reviewer #1: - the selected topic is very interesting and well thought out.
- the title doesn't reflect the subject of the paper as it focuses mainly on Architectural identity, which wasn't mentioned in the title.
- the text is clear and easy to read but some parts need to be communicated better, for instance, the part concerning methodology,
which doesn't include the specific methods used for data analysis and scoring system.
- some questions in the survey don't give accurate results, for instance, How would you rate the design? and it doesn't mention
in terms of what ( creativity, innovation, originality, respect for place identity) and How would you rate the shape and form, again in terms
of what (aesthetically or functionality). this would affect the accuracy of results.
- It is better that the authors would give a scoring for each case study, to sum-up the five points discussed, and give a clear opinion about
how much each project succeeded in addressing architectural identity through the five aspects mentioned.

Reviewer #2: 1. Regarding the title, the content of the paper showcases how identity is reflected in large contemporary architectural projects in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, the Role of Foreign Architects mentioned in the title is barely reflected in the paper. I prefer changing the title. It can be "examining how identity is reflected in contemporary architecture in Saudi Arabia" or "contemporary architectural identity in Saudi Arabia and its reflection in the local context" or any other title but without (foreign architects) in it.
2. There are no page numbers, which makes it hard to write down this review.
3. Titles and subtitles need to be revised to better address their content, such as: "Literature review", could be "Architectural identity", "Methodology, Case studies, Results and discussion", could also be given more appropriate titles and subtitles.
4. The third paragraph of the abstract is not necessary. It is an unneeded expanded explanation. Because it jumps to assumptions the research is about to investigate.
5. The text sequence, in some parts, is illogical, such as the paragraph that starts with "The General Presidency", should precedes the one before it.
6. The author seams to jump into assumptions without investigation nor reviewing different opinions. Along the literature review and its sub-titles this is noticed. For example, in part 1.1, stating how architect's approach the issue of identity in design. Also, stating in part 1.2 that "A building's form symbolizes the community's cultural concepts within that community" and so on… therefore it is very important in scientific research to mention the different views and then state the author's personal opinion.
7. In general, the paper is trying to discuss the identity issue in contemporary architecture in Saudi Arabia, but it did not mention what are the architectural characteristics in traditional architecture and the building form? Also, it did not discuss climatic and geographical features, and local culture as well. Such issues should be discussed in the literature review and reflected in the questionnaire. Therefore, the paper did not tackle the intended issue in depth.
