Chicago-Style Textbook Reformatting

Job ID: 39861734

Budget: €12 – €18 EUR

I am updating a multi-volume series of Arts and Humanities textbooks that currently exists only as mixed-quality scans and legacy files. I need each volume retyped from scratch into a clean, fully editable Word document, while enforcing a single, uniform template.

The most critical requirement is absolute adherence to the Chicago Manual of Style for every citation, footnote, endnote, and bibliography entry. Punctuation, italicization, capitalization, and ordering must be checked and corrected so that references read as though they were produced at the same time, by the same hand.

Beyond citations and references, apply common-sense consistency to font families, point sizes, and paragraph spacing, but you do not need to redesign headings or tinker with page-layout minutiae—I will handle those later. Accuracy of transcription is essential; I will run cross-checks against the scans, so please proofread as you go.

Deliverables
• A separate, fully formatted .docx file for each volume, ready for final design work
• A brief style sheet summarizing any citation-related decisions or anomalies discovered during the project

If you have a sharp eye for detail, experience working with Chicago style in academic publishing, and can turn clean files around on schedule, I’d love to collaborate with you.
