Japan Security Partnerships Report
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I am compiling a policy-oriented study on Japan’s current security partnerships, with a tight focus on its cooperation with the United States and ASEAN members. The end goal is to brief decision-makers ahead of an upcoming inter-governmental conference on Asia-Pacific regional cooperation, so depth and accuracy matter more than length.
You will analyse official defence white papers, joint statements, Diet transcripts, and reliable OSINT sources, then weave in any relevant think-tank commentary or conference notes that shed light on behind-the-scenes dynamics. I am particularly interested in:
• How Tokyo frames alliance commitments with Washington in light of evolving deterrence needs
• The institutional mechanisms—such as the Japan-ASEAN Security Cooperation Dialogue—that enable practical cooperation with ASEAN states
• Recent shifts in force-posture, technology sharing, and capacity-building initiatives, plus their implications for regional stability
Deliverables (all in English):
1. A concise policy brief (≈3,500 words) outlining current arrangements, emerging trends, and actionable recommendations.
2. A one-page executive summary for senior officials.
3. An annotated source list (URLs, publication dates, and relevance notes) for transparency and follow-up research.
Citation style is flexible (APA or Chicago are fine) as long as it is consistent. Please include charts or tables only where they genuinely illuminate the argument; raw data files can be supplied separately.
