Steel Spreader Bar FEA Analysis

I need a complete finite-element assessment of an existing steel spreader bar. My goal is to understand how it behaves under both static and dynamic loading so I can confirm capacity, identify any overstressed regions, and fine-tune our fabrication notes before production.

You will receive the full data set—native CAD models, 2-D technical drawings, and a detailed specification sheet with dimensions, weld symbols, and material certs—on project start. Please keep all geometry intact; only add or simplify features where it improves mesh quality without distorting stiffness.

Scope
• Build a clean, well-converged mesh from the supplied CAD.
• Apply load cases that reflect the provided lift charts and shock factors, covering static picks and expected dynamic scenarios (sudden stops, sway, minor impact).
• Use the correct steel material properties; I have the grade and test results ready.
• Report principal stresses, deflection, natural frequencies, and safety factors for each scenario.
• Highlight critical welds, lug holes, and splice bolted joints in a brief commentary.

Deliverables
1. Editable FEA file set (ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar)
2. PDF report with assumptions, screenshots, plots, and pass/fail summary
3. A short call or written memo outlining recommended design tweaks, if any

Acceptance criteria
• Mesh independence shown with at least one refinement check
• Max von Mises stress and deflection within allowable limits set in the spec sheet
• Dynamic analysis includes first three natural modes and drop-load response

If questions arise—load magnitudes, boundary conditions, or material damping—call them out early so we keep the timeline tight.
