Abaqus 2D Poroelastic Model Build
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I am looking for someone who can open Abaqus/CAE (Standard) and set up a full, working 2-D plane-strain consolidation analysis that couples pore pressure and displacement. No Python scripting is required; I want everything created directly inside CAE so I can inspect and modify the model later.
Geometry & layout
• Overall size: 100 m wide × 25 m high
• Stratigraphy: three horizontal layers—an upper cover layer, a central water-bearing reservoir, and a lower foundation layer. Each layer uses its own homogeneous mechanical and hydraulic properties, which I will supply after award.
Analysis set-up
• Module: Soils → Consolidation (Biot)
• Step: transient drawdown to capture pressure diffusion and compaction
• Output: time histories of pore pressure, vertical and horizontal displacements, and volumetric strain in each layer.
What I need from you
1. A clean .cae file (plus .inp if convenient) ready to run without warnings.
2. Well-named parts, materials, sets, and steps so the model is easy to follow.
3. A brief note summarising element type selection, mesh density, and any contact or coupling controls you applied.
Acceptance criteria
• Model runs in Abaqus/Standard with no fatal errors.
• Results clearly show pressure decline and compaction in the central layer.
• Displacement and pressure fields are physically reasonable and free of obvious numerical artefacts.
If you have tackled similar poroelastic studies in Abaqus, this should be straightforward. Please tell me how quickly you can turn around the initial file, and feel free to highlight any previous consolidation or reservoir-compaction work you have done.
