ADA Compliance & WCAG AA Developer Needed
Budget: $100 – $1,000 USD
I need my website to be compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA standards. This project involves ensuring the accessibility of all elements of my site. I am looking for someone to work on a long-term contract
Key Requirements:
1. Logo: You design my logo more accessible by ensuring it passes contrast guidelines. All overlapping elements of the logo should have enough contrast that anyone can visually separate the key elements. For logo text, a contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal-sized text and 3:1 for large text is a minimum.
2. Website Layout Design in Figma: Figma offers tools and plugins to help designers create ADA and WCAG compliant designs. These tools can help ensure that designs are accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities. Fix Color Contrast and Typography issues and add WCAG annotations for a smooth design to dev handoff
3. Development: Integrate Figma Design into WordPress that can help make a website ADA and WCAG compliant include plugins and tools that evaluate accessibility and make recommendations for improvement.
4. Accessibility Audit: Need both Manual and Automated Audit. The following types of testing will be carried out on each unique template page:
- Screen reader testing using Jaws for Windows/Chrome
- Screen reader testing using NVDA for Windows/Firefox
- Screen reader testing using Voiceover for MacOS/iOS
- Screen reader testing using Talkback for Android
- Browser Zoom testing
- High Contrast testing
- Keyboard-only testing
- Color Contrast testing
- Automated tool (Wave by WebAIM or AXE by Deque)
5. Accessibility Remediation: Begin implementing the remediation plan by fixing the identified accessibility issues. This may involve modifying code, adjusting layout and design elements, adding alternative text to images, ensuring proper color contrast, improving keyboard navigation, providing captions for videos, and so on. Use best practices and accessibility techniques specific to the platform or technology being used.
- Make all text and images accessible
- Ensure all forms and interactive elements are usable for those with disabilities
- Adapt all videos and multimedia to meet accessibility standards
- Test and optimize the site for screen reader compatibility.
6. Ongoing Maintenance: Accessibility is an ongoing process, so it's crucial to maintain and monitor the accessibility of our website and content over time. Regularly review and update our content to address new accessibility guidelines, technology updates, or user feedback.
Ideal Skills:
- DHS Trusted tester Certified on Accessibility or IAAP CPACC Certification.
- Proven experience with WCAG 2.2 Audit & Remediation.
- Strong understanding of Screen readers like JAWS, NVDA, Talkback, Color Contrast.
- Skills in FIGMA to design WCAG 2.2 Compliant Logo and Web Layout Design.
- Web development skills specially into ARIA, HTML5, JavaScript and CSS to implement these changes.
