User Account Login Bug Fix
Budget: $2 – $8 AUD
My production site has suddenly started locking genuine users out. The problem shows up only on regular user accounts— admin and guest sessions work fine. The failure happens right at the login attempt: the form submits, the page refreshes, and the user is sent straight back to the login screen with no error message.
I need someone to trace and eliminate whatever is blocking authentication. The stack is PHP 8.2 with a MySQL back-end, running under Nginx; JavaScript validation is handled with vanilla JS. You are free to use xDebug, browser dev tools, or any tracing method you prefer, as long as nothing on the live database is corrupted.
Deliverables:
• Identify the root cause of the login failure
• Patch the code or configuration and document the exact change
• Provide a short report outlining the fix, so I can reproduce it on staging
Acceptance criteria:
1. A standard user can log in successfully on the live site and is redirected to their dashboard.
2. No new warnings or notices appear in the server logs after the fix.
3. All existing admin and guest functionality remains unaffected.
