Update API to login with username and password in laravel

I am looking for a Laravel developer to update the API for my project. The main requirement is to update login functionality using a username and password. Present working with email and password option.

Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge and experience with Laravel framework
- Proficiency in API development and integration
- Familiarity with authentication and security protocols
- Ability to work with databases and handle user data securely

Project Scope:
- Update the API to allow users to login using their username and password
- No additional features or modifications are needed, only the login functionality needs to be updated
- API documentation for the login functionality will not be provided, but the necessary information can be provided by the client

Please note that the version of Laravel currently being used is unknown.
