Flutter Developer for Drag-and-Drop Form Builder -- 2
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
We’re looking for an experienced Flutter developer to build a polished, production-grade drag-and-drop form builder as a web application. This builder will allow users to create their own structured forms by placing and arranging fields visually on a full-page, printable layout—similar to A4 or Letter paper dimensions. The builder itself is intended for desktop use only, but the forms created must be usable as print-ready PDFs and as responsive, fillable, and submittable forms on both mobile and desktop devices.
Users will be able to choose from a wide range of field types, including short text, long text, dropdowns, radio buttons, checkboxes, date/time pickers, headers, and spacers. They should be able to name each field and, for selectable types like dropdowns and checkboxes, define their own option values. The layout must be intuitive and flexible, with smooth drag-and-drop support for rearranging fields within fixed sections. These sections appear in a specific order and cannot be removed, but the fields within them are fully customizable.
The application will be built using Flutter Web and connected to an existing Firebase project. Firebase Authentication is already configured and should be integrated into the app. Forms created with the builder must be saved to Firestore in a structured, JSON-serializable format that includes everything needed to dynamically render the form elsewhere: layout order, section structure, field types, labels, options, and any additional metadata. This JSON structure must support reuse across platforms, including responsive rendering, user submission, and PDF export.
Once a form is created, users must be able to export both the blank form and a filled-out version as print-ready PDFs from the desktop. These PDFs should match the visual layout exactly and maintain print fidelity. Additionally, the same form definitions must be usable on both mobile and desktop screens, where users can fill out and submit forms directly. The layout engine must support both fixed-dimension PDF output and responsive screen rendering without sacrificing structure or usability.
This is not a prototype or an MVP. We’re building a production-quality tool that demands clean engineering and thoughtful UX. You should be fluent in Flutter Web development and comfortable working with Firebase Firestore, Firebase Auth, and PDF generation in Flutter using packages like pdf and printing. Experience building form editors, layout tools, or drag-and-drop interfaces is a strong plus. We expect well-structured code, reusable components, and scalable state management.
