Firmware Engineer for Huawei Watch B7 Custom Firmware Update
Budget: $15,000 – $20,000 USD
I am seeking an experienced embedded systems or reverse-engineering firmware developer to help with a custom firmware update for a Huawei Watch B7. I have the .bin firmware file and would like to modify specific elements (such as UI text) and successfully install it back on the watch.
- Key Responsibilities:
Analyze the existing Huawei B7 .bin firmware file
Modify specific text strings or data within the firmware (e.g., UI messages, labels)
Rebuild or repack the firmware after modifications
Bypass or handle any security mechanisms, including encryption, digital signatures, or checksums that prevent unauthorized firmware flashing
Successfully flash the custom firmware to the Huawei B7 device
Document the technical process for future reference (optional but preferred)
- Required Skills & Experience:
Proven experience with firmware reverse engineering and embedded systems
Experience with Huawei firmware formats, structure, and update mechanisms (especially for firmware)
Strong knowledge of binwalk, Ghidra, IDA Pro, hex editors, or similar reverse engineering tools
Familiarity with firmware encryption/signing (RSA, SHA, etc.) and how to bypass or reproduce them
Experience with firmware update tools and custom OTA packages for Android-based or proprietary systems
(Bonus) Prior work on Huawei, Honor, or other Chinese smart device firmware
- Security Challenge:
The main technical challenge is to pass the Huawei Watch B7’s security verification that blocks unauthorized or unsigned firmware updates. The candidate must understand or be willing to research the cryptographic checks in place and how to bypass or replicate them.
