Engaging Cyber Security Course Redesign
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
We’re building a professional training course, Security & Cyber Systems for Utilities in Africa, for utility operations managers, IT/OT leads, and regulators across Africa. We need an experienced instructional designer to adapt existing reference material into original, Africa-contextualized course content.
We’ll provide an existing course architecture, including module structure, learning objectives, framework references such as IEC 62443 and NIST CSF, and 3–4 reference videos.
Your job is to use that material as technical grounding and build improved content around our structure, brand, and African context, including grid characteristics, regulatory environment, and capacity constraints. You may also use AI to create characters and voice-overs for the course.
Ideal candidate:
• Proven instructional design or e-learning development portfolio, ideally in technical, engineering, cybersecurity, or compliance-heavy training.
• Comfortable working from technical source material such as OT/IT security and industrial control systems. A subject-matter background is not required, but prior exposure is a strong plus.
• Experience designing tiered or multi-format courses, including free, paid, and certified programmes.
• Familiarity with the African energy sector context is a plus, but not required.
Deliverables:
• A storyboard or course map that aligns each learning objective with its video segment and assessment.
• Structured content documents and finalised video scripts per module, ready for our design team to convert into slides, voice-over, on-screen narration, and platform-hosted formats.
• Quiz and assessment bank with feedback for each distractor, plus well-designed knowledge checks that keep learners engaged.
• A fully loaded LMS course shell, published and tested for desktop and mobile usability, with SCORM-compliant packages, completion rules, and analytics confirmed.
I will share instructional-design guidelines, brand assets, raw source files, and admin-level LMS access. Your task is to transform the material into a fresh, cohesive course that keeps utility-sector professionals alert, curious, and fully involved from start to finish.
Learner engagement is the most important outcome. Each module should use tight, purposeful video lectures, quizzes, and knowledge checks. If short scenario videos or adaptive question branches would improve attention, propose them, provided they fit smoothly inside our existing LMS.
Because the subject matter touches critical-infrastructure security, accuracy and clarity are non-negotiable. You do not need to be a deep technical expert, but you must know how to collaborate with an SME, extract the right detail, and translate it into plain-language explanations without sacrificing rigor.
Please include a brief note on similar enterprise-level courses you have redesigned, preferably in technical or compliance-heavy domains, and outline the key engagement tactics you employed. I’m ready to start as soon as I find the right partner.
