Design a caravan and suitable chassis ready to be built
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
Project Description:
I am looking for help to design a lightweight custom caravan to generate plans, material lists and instructions which can be used to build the caravan (either by myself or by a manufacturer)
This includes improving the design and layout of a basic concept, designing the chassis, planning the load distribution of the materials and items such as gas cylinder, batteries, fridge, axle position and virtual road testing of the caravan to test performance and suitability of the selected design.
The caravan must have basic offroad ability, be lightweight (under 1200kg unladen) support around 300-400kg extra weight, with a length of around 4500cm and a tow ball weight of around 100kg. The design will have to ensure high towability with minimal swerve potential based on correct weight distribution and chassis design.
I have a basic design concept, however, to complete this I need the help of an experienced caravan designer. I have an existing conceptual layout and specifications as in the offer - i.e. expected overall weight, dimensions and so on.
You should have a background not just in 3D design but also with the mechanical design of the caravan and the chassis as well as with the underlying physics to ensure towability even with smaller cars.
You must be able to use 3D software such as Fusion or similar which includes the ability to stress test the design.
- mechanical engineering background
- experience in caravan design, with a strong understanding of space optimization and functionality.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software and the ability to create detailed renderings of the design will be essential.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate.
The original layout concept has been designed in Sweet Home 3D and will need be be recreated in proper cad software which a caravan manufacturer would use as well.
The job will require discussing a number of designs to dcide on the best option to go forward with. Then designing a lightweight suitable chassis with a single torsion axle and space for water tanks
Converting and improving the existing design in a collaborative way with me to ensure the stated goals are achieved. The caravan may include a pop-up roof depending on the final design.
I am looking for someone who enjoys working on such a design, has a great background in this area and can hep me turn my concepts in reality by not only making them possible but by also improving them.
