Badminton Court Echo Control Design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I need a complete acoustic scheme for an indoor badminton court that currently suffers from a long, metallic echo. The priority is simple: bring the reverberation time down to a level where players can clearly hear the shuttle and coaches can speak without a PA system. External noise is not a problem; the challenge is the reflections bouncing around the playing area.
What I expect from you
• An acoustic simulation of the existing hall using EASE, ODEON, or any comparable tool that lets us visualise RT60, STI and sound‐pressure distribution.
• A treatment concept showing where and how much absorption, diffusion or bass control is required. I’m open on materials—panels, baffles, acoustic foam, suspended clouds, even high-pile sport carpets—so long as you back the choice with data and cost insight.
• A concise report that translates the simulation into actionable construction notes: surface areas, recommended products (with NRC values), colour or finish constraints for gameplay visibility, and a phased installation plan that won’t shut the court down for weeks.
Constraints & references
No specific regulations bind this project; however, please reference typical sports‐hall best practices so the design remains future-proof if standards tighten. Ceiling height and court dimensions will be shared once the project starts.
Deliverables will be accepted when the predicted reverberation time meets the target you set (ideally <1.5 s across the speech range) and the documentation is clear enough for a contractor to install without extra consultancy hours.
If you’ve tuned gymnasiums or multi-purpose halls before—and can demonstrate measurable before/after improvements—let’s talk.
