Mobile App Requirements Specification

Overview
We require a mobile application to facilitate the scanning, collection, and transmission of data from BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) devices. The app must be compatible with both Android and iOS and include an admin portal for user management and monitoring. The project should include hosting recommendations and full submission to the App Store and Google Play.

Core Features & Requirements

1. User Interface & Onboarding
• Splash Screen: A branded introductory screen displayed when the app is launched.
• Terms & Conditions (T&Cs): A mandatory agreement page where users must accept the terms before proceeding.
• User Registration & Login:
o Email-based sign-up and login (optional social login).
o Multi-factor authentication (MFA) for added security (if required).
o User roles (e.g., Admin, Standard User).
2. BLE Scanning & Data Collection
• Scanning for Nearby BLE Devices:
o The app must scan for BLE tags in the vicinity.
o Filter devices based on predefined criteria (e.g., specific UUIDs or services).
• Data Collection from BLE Device:
o Collect up to 4,000 data points from the connected BLE device.
o Efficient handling of large BLE data payloads, ensuring minimal latency.
o Store data locally if connectivity is lost and sync once online.
3. Data Upload & Connectivity
• Uploading Data to a Centralised Platform:
o Support for MQTT and HTTP protocols for data transmission.
o Secure data transfer using encryption (TLS/SSL).
o Real-time and batch upload options.
4. QR Code Scanning & BLE Tag Identification
• QR Code Scanner:
o Built-in camera scanner to scan QR codes associated with BLE tags.
o Extract relevant metadata from scanned QR codes and associate them with BLE device data.
o Error handling for unreadable QR codes.
5. Admin Portal (Web-Based)
• User & Device Management:
o Admin dashboard for monitoring registered users and connected BLE devices.
o CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) functionality for BLE devices and users.
6. Hosting & Deployment
• Hosting Recommendations:
o Provide recommendations for hosting the admin portal (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or on-premises).
• Scalability & Performance:
o Ensure the platform can handle multiple users and BLE devices simultaneously.
7. Mobile App Compatibility
• Cross-Platform Development:
o The app must be available for both Android and iOS.
o Consider development in Flutter, React Native, or Native (Swift/Kotlin) for optimal performance.
8. App Store & Play Store Submission
• App Submission & Compliance:
o The developer must handle submission to Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
o Ensure compliance with both platforms’ requirements, including privacy policies, data permissions, and accessibility.
• Additional Considerations
o Security: Implement strong authentication and data encryption.
o Offline Mode: App should store collected data and sync when online.
o User Experience (UX/UI): Clean, intuitive design with smooth navigation.
o Error Handling & Logging: Clear error messages and logging for troubleshooting.
