Project Description:
This is a fixed-price engineering project awarded to a selected freelancer for a total of 1300€.
The objective is to perform a comparative Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on a BIW van chassis to evaluate structural safety under a rollover load case before and after vehicle modifications.
The project is strictly divided into 3 deliverable-based milestones.
Payment release for each milestone is 100% conditional upon delivering functional, fully editable project/solver files (.hm, .dat, .fem, .bdf, or compatible formats).
Screenshots or locked files will not be accepted for milestone release.
MILESTONE 1: Geometry Cleanup, Midsurfacing & Contact Setup
Budget: 390€ (30% of total)
Deliverables: Native editable geometry/solver database files.
Release Conditions: 1. The complete 3D solid BIW van chassis geometry must be cleanly converted into a high-quality 2D shell/midsurface topology.
2. The model must preserve all 5 original internal roof ribs in their baseline locations.
3. All physical assembly gaps and tolerances present in the original structure must be bridged and connected using stabilized GLUE/bonded contact definitions (such as surface-to-surface glue or localized MPC/RBE3 connections) to ensure realistic macroscopic load path transfers and avoid convergence errors.
MILESTONE 2: FEA Meshing & Solving (Baseline vs. Modified Structure)
Budget: 650€ (50% of total)
Deliverables: Fully solved solver database files for BOTH scenarios showing complete stress and deformation fields.
Release Conditions: 1. Scenario 1 (Original Base): High-quality shell mesh generated, fully fixed boundary conditions applied along the bottom chassis cut line, a 10 kN rollover force applied at a 45-degree angle via a remote load point, and successfully solved (Von Mises stress and displacement plots must be accessible).
2. Scenario 2 (Modified Structure): Introduce two roof cutouts (810x500 mm and 950x810 mm), severing 3 of the 5 internal ribs. Model the reinforcement frame using 30x10x1 mm structural shell elements surrounding the cutouts and interconnecting all 5 ribs to restore the interrupted load path. Mesh and solve this model under the exact same boundary conditions and 10 kN loads as Scenario 1.
MILESTONE 3: Technical Comparative Report & Cierre
Budget: 260€ (20% of total)
Deliverables: Final Technical Engineering Report (PDF).
Release Conditions: 1. Delivery of a detailed comparative engineering report plotting and analyzing Von Mises stress distributions, maximum displacements, and structural safety margins between the baseline and the reinforced scenarios to justify structural safety.
2. Final verification that the delivered solver files from Milestone 2 allow for easy, visual modifications of the load magnitude, vector direction, or application point for future internal checks.
