BIM-GPS Map Integration to AR Platform
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Project Title
Server-Based BIM + GPS Map → AR Visualization Platform (Navisworks, Multi-User)
Project Overview
We are looking for an experienced developer or small team to build a server-based BIM visualization platform with GPS-based map navigation and AR 3D visualization.
The system must allow users to:
Navigate a project on a map by GPS coordinates (similar to Google Earth / GIS view)
Select a location or area on the map
Seamlessly switch to 3D visualization / AR view of the same location using a smartphone camera
This is an industrial project (gas processing plant) using a large Navisworks NWD model (~1 GB).
Critical requirement:
The BIM model must NOT be downloaded to phones.
All heavy processing and rendering must be done on a server.
Core Functional Requirements
1. GPS / Map-Based Navigation (2D)
Web-based map interface (Google Maps / Mapbox / Cesium / similar)
Display project layout aligned to real-world GPS coordinates
Ability to:
zoom / pan
select zones or points
see project elements overlaid on the map
Map view acts as entry point to 3D/AR visualization
2. 3D / AR Visualization
Live camera view on smartphone
3D BIM model overlaid on real environment
Transition from map → 3D must keep same coordinates
Target alignment accuracy: ~10 cm
Calibration via:
survey control points / RTK (preferred)
markers acceptable for initial phase
3. Architecture (Mandatory)
Server-side rendering
WebRTC / Pixel Streaming or equivalent
Browser-based client (no app install preferred)
One server → many users
Client side:
camera
sensors
basic UI only
4. Multi-User
Target: ~20 concurrent users
Session isolation
Stable performance
5. Model Handling
Input: Navisworks NWD
Geometry optimization:
remove micro-details
LOD generation
segmentation by zones
Optimized for real-time rendering
6. Security
BIM data stored only on server
No file download on client
Token / session-based access
Project Structure (Important)
We expect the project to be executed in phases, starting with a small pilot, then scaling up.
Phase 1 – Pilot
One selected zone
Basic map → 3D transition
Server rendering proof
Test on 2–3 phones
Phase 2 – Full System
Full model
Multi-user
Production-ready deployment
Time & Budget
Hours: Open (to be proposed by freelancer)
Budget: Open (hourly or milestone-based)
We will evaluate proposals based on:
technical understanding
architecture decisions
efficiency (not just price)
Required Experience
We prefer developers with experience in at least two of the following:
BIM / Navisworks / IFC
Unity or Unreal Engine
WebRTC / Pixel Streaming
GIS / GPS / Map-based systems
ARCore / ARKit
Server-side GPU rendering
This project is suitable for experienced Indian developers or teams with strong technical background and cost-effective delivery.
No mobile-only AR
No “download BIM to phone” solutions
No generic AR demos
To Apply (Mandatory)
Please include:
Brief explanation of how you would implement:
GPS map navigation
transition to 3D / AR
Proposed tech stack
Relevant past project (link / video / description)
Estimated hours for Phase 1 (Pilot)
Confirmation that rendering will be server-side
Proposals without these points will not be considered.
Long-Term Opportunity
This is not a one-off demo.
Successful delivery may lead to:
long-term cooperation
additional industrial projects
scaling the platform further
