Custom 24-Inch Gooseneck Device Stand
Budget: $25 – $50 CAD
I'm in need of a custom-made 18 to 24 inch support mechanism for a small plastic disk. This could be an 18 inch light weight arm or small diameter (aprox 1/4 inch max) gooseneck cable that can support it's own weight when held at 45 degrees. It needs to be adjustable up and down but not side to side. It also needs to pack up into a small package. The small or more compact the better.
If it's an arm it needs to articulate and could be made up of 3 x 6 inch sections or 4 x 4 or 5 inch sections.
A gooseneck is an easy solution but they don't coil up to pack away very small. Eg a gooseneck of 5mm diameter will only coil up to aprox 8cm radius which is 2x larger than I'd like.
Not sure if I'm providing enough information but I'm looking for help on what might work. It doesn't need to be the 2 options I mention. For example a coat hanger works well but doesn't lend itself to packing up small and reusing over and over. This requires well-crafted construction to ensure the stability and flexibility of the cable.
Ideal skills and experiences:
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing or designing similar gadgets.
- Deep understanding of cable materials for durability and flexibility.
- Innovation to design a gooseneck holder or articulating arm or other mechanism to support a small plastic disk of minimal weight at 45 degrees.
