Sketch to CAD for 3D Printing
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
I have a set of hand-drawn design sketches that now need to become a highly detailed CAD model so I can move straight into prototyping on my 3D printer. Every contour, fillet, and fastening feature shown in the sketches should appear in the digital version; this isn’t just a visual mock-up, it has to capture functional geometry at production accuracy.
Fusion 360 is my preferred environment because I’ll be iterating dimensions and tolerances later, so please build the model as a fully parametric file with clean feature history. Once the design is complete, export an STL optimised for FDM printing (0.2 mm layer height) so I can run a quick prototype without additional mesh repair.
When the work is done I’d like:
• The native Fusion 360 file (.f3d) with organised bodies, components, and sketches
• A watertight STL ready for print
• A brief note outlining any assumptions you made so I can verify them before manufacturing
If you see opportunities to strengthen the design for printability—such as wall-thickness tweaks or orientation suggestions—let me know; I’m open to expert advice as long as the original aesthetics stay intact.
