3D-Printable, Flexible Chainmail Kippah Design

Job ID: 39762661

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I’m looking for a designer to create a 3D-printable kippah with a flexible, chainmail-style structure. The design should feature repeating Stars of David as the main motif, with each star connected to the others at their points/edges by small printed links that allow movement. The overall pattern should form an airy, open lattice that sits comfortably on the head, similar in look to a laser-cut kippah but with the flexibility of printed chainmail.

The kippah should be modeled as a “pizza with one slice missing” shape so it can be printed flat and then folded into a dome shape when worn. There should be a small, discreet clasp at the edges of the “slice” to securely close the kippah into its circular form on the head.

Key Details:

Diameter when assembled: 140 mm

Material: To be 3D-printed in flexible filament (e.g., TPU)

Motif: Stars of David formed as part of the chainmail pattern

Shape: Circular when clasped, wedge-shaped gap when laid flat

Clasp: Integrated, low-profile, comfortable against the head

Must be printable in one piece without supports (flat layout)

Deliverables:

3D model file (STL or OBJ) showing both the flat “pizza slice missing” layout and the folded, assembled form

Print orientation and slicer setting recommendations for flexible filament

Suggested clasp design and dimensions for ease of printing and assembly
