Multi-Speed Handheld Massager Retrofit

Job ID: 39929701

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I have a battery-powered, two-head oscillating handheld massager that currently runs only at its fixed factory speeds. I want to open it up and give it a full upgrade: only by experimenting with different RPMs will I know the one that I want and give it that option currently has five speed settings and you press the button to cycle through the five speed settings I want one of those five speed settings to be the one

• Add multiple speed/RPM settings—at least three clear steps plus a smooth, fully adjustable range.
• Let me control those speeds with a simple dial or knob mounted neatly on the housing.
• Keep the unit portable: it must still run from its original battery pack with no noticeable drop in runtime or safety.

What I need from you:
1. A concise electronic design (schematic, component list, and wiring diagram) that fits the existing enclosure.
2. Recommendations for off-the-shelf parts—motor driver, potentiometer or rotary encoder, any regulators or MOSFETs—so replacement and future repairs are easy.
3. Clear, photo-backed instructions for disassembly, installation, and reassembly so I can replicate the mod with basic tools.
4. Optional but welcome: a simple PCB layout or 3D-printed bracket to secure the new board and dial.

This is a medium-scope job: I don’t need mass production, just a working prototype plan and guidance that results in one fully functional, multi-speed massager. Safety, smooth motor control, and clean cosmetic finish are top priorities.
