Headlight Intake Model from Scan
Budget: $30 – $250 CAD
I will provide you with an STL mesh captured from an original headlight. Using that scan as the master reference, I need a clean, watertight 3D model of a matching “intake” piece that can go straight to the printer.
The scan carries all the surface data, but it is still a raw mesh. Your task is to rebuild it at medium detail—enough to preserve the key styling lines and mounting features without creating an unnecessarily dense file. Think solid, manifold geometry suitable for FDM / SLA printing rather than an ultra-high-poly display model.
Scope
• Import and align the STL scan.
• Re-surface or remodel to create smooth, printable solids.
• Apply any symmetry where appropriate and close all gaps.
• Deliver a final, error-free STL ready for 3D printing (STEP or OBJ as an optional extra is welcome).
Acceptance Criteria
• Model passes standard slicer checks for manifold geometry and wall-thickness warnings.
• Overall shape matches the supplied scan within ±0.5 mm.
• File size remains reasonable for a “medium detail” spec—no bloated meshes.
Use Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Rhino,Blender with remesh add-ons—so long as the output meets the print-ready requirements above. Would like to learn how to do it as well so would like a screen recording of the job in progress as well. Let me know if you need a short video of the part or extra reference photos, and we can move quickly from scan to slicer-ready file.
