FDM 3D Printable Water Heater Display Model
Budget: $20 – $50 USD
I’m looking for a skilled 3D designer experienced with FDM 3D printing optimization to help create eye-catching display models of HVAC appliances (starting with residential water heaters).
The goal is to produce high-quality printable models for marketing/display purposes that can be printed on a Bambu Lab A1 with AMS (4-color printing).

This is not for engineering or manufacturing use — the focus is on:
visual appearance
smooth surfaces
clean geometry
easy assembly
minimal post-processing after printing
What I Will Provide
BIM/Revit source files (.rfa / .fbx)
product links and reference images/videos
examples of existing printed models I like
Example products:
Bradford White Water Heater BIM Model

I already converted some Revit files into FBX format, but they may require:
mesh cleanup
topology optimization
printable part separation
smoothing and redesign adjustments for better print quality
Requirements
The designer should:
optimize models specifically for FDM printing
understand support minimization and print orientation
create clean separable parts for assembly
design with multi-color printing in mind
preserve the real-world look of the appliance while making it visually appealing as a printed display model
The final model should:
print cleanly with minimal sanding/post-processing
look professional and “retail-display ready”
potentially include assembly using screws, inserts, or snap-fit concepts if appropriate
Deliverables
optimized STL/STEP/3MF files
separated printable parts if needed
assembly-ready model
optional recommendations for:
filament types
glossy/smooth finishes
painting or acetone smoothing workflows
Printing Setup
Printer: Bambu Lab A1
Multi-color AMS available
FDM printing only
Budget & Timeline
Initial prototype budget: approximately $40–60 USD depending on complexity
Fast turnaround preferred
Long-Term Opportunity
This may become an ongoing collaboration for:
additional HVAC models
miniature/keychain versions
other appliance display models
The first successful prototype may lead to recurring work.
