Convert FBX Model For Printing
Budget: €30 – €250 EUR
I have a fully detailed architectural model in .fbx created by a professional architect and I need it prepared for FDM 3-D printing. The end result should be a clean, watertight STL or OBJ that slices without error.
What has to happen
The raw file contains interior furniture and thin walls that won’t survive printing. I need you to strip out all furniture and fittings, thicken the exterior and interior walls where necessary, close any openings, merge loose shells, and generally optimise the mesh so it is printer-friendly. No rescaling is required—I want the model kept at its current scale so I can decide the final print size inside my slicer later.
Preferred workflow
Whether you use Blender, MeshLab, Netfabb, Fusion 360, or another tool is up to you as long as the exported file is manifold and passes basic print checks in Cura/PrusaSlicer. Clean topology and accurate geometry are much more important to me than the specific software.
Please show me examples of past work on similar architectural conversions when you reply; seeing before-and-after meshes or photos of printed results will help me choose quickly.
Deliverables
• One optimised STL or OBJ ready for FDM printing
• A quick note on the steps/tools you used so I can replicate or adjust later if needed
I’ll supply the original FBX as soon as we start. Looking forward to working with someone who enjoys turning CG architecture into something you can hold in your hands.
