Overview
A virtual reality training system is being developed to enhance soldier readiness through immersive simulation. We are seeking a skilled Architect / 3D Modeler to design and build lifelike 3D environments tailored for tactical training scenarios. This role is ideal for someone with strong spatial design skills and experience in game-level modeling or simulation environments.
Responsibilities
Environment and Scenario Design
Design tactical training environments such as urban settings, jungle terrain, or interior operations rooms
Create mission-specific layouts (e.g., ambushes, hostage rescue, perimeter defense)
Ensure spatial logic, realism, and strategic layout for VR training
3D Modeling and Asset Creation
Model detailed 3D assets (terrain, buildings, interiors, objects) in tools like Blender, Rhino, or Maya
Develop dynamic elements such as lighting, time-of-day changes, or weather effects
Build optimized assets for real-time performance in VR engines
VR Integration
Collaborate with developers using Unity or Unreal Engine to integrate models into training simulations
Ensure interactivity of elements like doors, weapons, props, and environmental responses
Assist with testing and optimization of models in the VR environment
Collaboration and Iteration
Work closely with subject matter experts including military consultants and technical leads
Incorporate feedback from VR training evaluations to improve environment realism and usability
Contribute to scenario development aligned with training goals
Requirements
Degree or strong background in Architecture, Game Design, or 3D Modeling
At least 3 years of experience creating 3D environments for VR, simulation, or gaming
Proficiency in Blender, Rhino, Maya, or similar modeling tools
Experience working with Unity or Unreal Engine
Strong portfolio demonstrating realistic 3D environments or architectural visualization
Ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative setting
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with military or first-responder environments
Experience with AI or logic systems for NPCs and mission scenarios
Understanding of performance optimization for VR applications
