3D VKF to 2D Model Conversion

I need a script/solution in matlab or paraview to convert a VKF volume model (example attached) into a 2D plane. The specific VKF volume model is a roughly partial ellipsoid (see image), and involves converting a volume model from 3D to 2D plane. The 2D plane should be roughly a circle (attached example)



Key requirements:
- Experience in working with VKF volume models.
- Experience in Paraview or Matlab.
- Ability to accurately convert 3D models to 2D planes.
