Timber Frame Barn Design and Details

I'm in need of a skilled engineer to create a traditional-style timber frame design for a barn workshop. This barn should have a large open studio area with lean-too on both sides. Mortis and tenon joints and dovetail mortis and tenon joints to be used every that a structural connection is required. Frame inside walls if studio space will be sheathed with 2x4 stud walls insulated with batt insulation with shiplap on lean top side and studio side. Roof will be capped with SIP panels. Roof will be metal and outside walls will all be metal siding.

Key Requirements:
- 3D Model and Design to be done in Revit or other approved software.
- Per Michigan building code and ASCE 7 for design loading for SE Michigan.
- All design files to be provided including 3D model, hand calcs, and pdf plan sheets with overall plan, elevation views, and individual member details all provided. With sizes and quantities provided.
- Design to be similar to the attached images but with the differences listed below.
- Final design can commence after initial layout is provided, and approved.
- Overall size is 48’x52’
- 24’x48’ center studio structure is to be heated space.
- Clear span truss length is 24’ out to out of frame columns and to be a king post style.
- Lean too on each side of barn is 14’ clear between barn wall and lean too posts.
- Column spacing will be provided.
- studio space is heated space is founded on existing concrete perimeter wall that sticks out of the ground 12 inches.
- leantoo posts founded on sonotube / 24” cylindrical foundations that are 48” deep.
- sil will have insulation foam break between soil and foundation. Treated sil plate will extend past foundation wall to support 2x6 insulation wall. Sil to be anchored into concrete foundation with drilled anchors. Treat sil will be capped with oak 6x10 sil and timber posts will be dove tailed into sil.

- Maximum member size is 8”x10”.
- Red and White Oak to be used in construction.
- Timber should be consider green and wet.

Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Expertise in architectural or structural design, particularly with timber frame structures
- Experience in designing barns or similar agricultural buildings

Deliverables:
- All Revit or Cad Files.
- All design calculations and files.
- 3D renderings.
- Pdf plan set showing roof framing plan, elevations, connections, and individual member details. Details to show all dimensions and angles needed for timber fabrication.
