Technical 3D Modeling of Scallop Shells for Architectural Fountain (CNC/GFRC Production)
Budget: €250 – €750 EUR
I am looking for a Senior Industrial Designer or 3D Modeler to create production-ready digital models for a luxury hotel fountain.
The pieces will be manufactured in GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete). The manufacturing process involves 5-axis CNC milling of EPS (polystyrene) molds. Therefore, geometric precision, surface quality (NURBS or high-poly mesh), and manufacturability are critical.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Modeling of 3 distinct shell pieces that share the same aesthetic language (same "family"):
* Base Shell (Large): Width: 2.80m | Block Height: ~45cm. (Floor mounted installation).
* Middle Shell: Width: 1.70m | Block Height: ~50cm. (Wall suspended).
* Top Shell: Width: 0.90m | Block Height: ~45cm. (Wall suspended).
DESIGN & STYLE:
* Style: Classic "Scallop Shell" / Baroque influence.
* Aesthetics: Smooth radial ribs, perfect symmetry, organic wavy rim but with geometric precision.
* Mounting: The back of all shells must be perfectly flat to sit flush against a vertical wall.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS (MUST HAVE):
* Wall Thickness: Parts must be modeled with a constant wall thickness of 20mm to 25mm (standard for GFRC spray), or delivered as a watertight solid if preferred by the factory.
* Drainage: Internal geometry must slope towards a central drain point to ensure no water pooling.
* Deliverables:
* Native File: (Rhino .3dm, SolidWorks .sldprt, or Fusion 360).
* Production Files: .STEP / .STP (for dimensional accuracy) and High-Resolution .STL (for CNC software).
* Topology: Clean geometry is required. If using sculpting software (ZBrush/Blender), retopology must be suitable for machining (no non-manifold edges).
INPUTS PROVIDED:
* 2D Technical Drawings (Sections and Elevations with dimensions).
* Visual references of the desired style.
* Installation heights and structural constraints.
IDEAL FREELANCER PROFILE:
* Experience in modeling for CNC Milling / Mold Making (CAM awareness).
* Proficiency in Rhino 3D, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
* Ability to interpret 2D architectural blueprints.
* Portfolio showing organic or classical architectural elements.
