SolidWorks Mechanical Prototype CAD Modeling
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I have a mechanical concept ready for its first physical prototype and I need an experienced SolidWorks designer to turn my sketches and reference photos into a fully-defined CAD package. The model has to be detailed down to individual components and their correct assembly, including all mating relationships, fastener callouts, and the clearances necessary for a functional build.
My immediate goal is to send the files to a prototyping shop, so accuracy and clean feature history are critical—every part must regenerate error-free if small tweaks are required later. I will provide hand sketches, rough dimensions, and a short list of off-the-shelf hardware; you bring the design intent to life in SolidWorks, applying best practices for parametric modeling.
Deliverables
• Native SolidWorks files (.sldprt and .sldasm) with fully-defined mates
• Exploded view and basic motion study to demonstrate assembly order
• Exported STEP/IGES set for vendors
• 2D manufacturing drawings with critical tolerances highlighted
I’m available for quick video calls to clarify fit, finish, or function decisions as you go, and I’m looking to iterate rapidly—first draft within a week would be ideal. If you have a portfolio of mechanical assemblies you’ve taken from CAD to prototype, I’d love to see it when you bid.
