SolidWorks Designer + Product Renderer — Ruggedised Electronics Enclosure
Budget: $2,000 – $4,000 AUD
We are developing a ruggedised embedded computing platform for harsh environment deployment and need a skilled SolidWorks designer with product rendering capability to design two enclosures and produce exhibition-quality visuals and proto for an international trade show in September 2026.
Two enclosure assemblies, fully specified in our Mechanical Design Specification (provided on engagement), plus exhibition-quality renders of both.
Assembly 1 — Rack Cassette Unit (COTS enclosure, custom panels and internals)
Based on a standard 3U 19-inch rack cassette (nVent SCHROFF EuropacPRO — 3D model available free from nVent). The chassis is used as-is. Custom parts required:
- Front panel (3mm aluminium) — SIM card slot, 4× LED light pipes, USB-A, USB-C, branding
- Rear panel (3mm aluminium) — 19+ M12 circular connectors, SMA/TNC RF antenna ports
- Internal PCB guide rail / support frame — board retention for shock and vibration
- Custom heatspreader plate — thermal contact between PCB components and chassis
Assembly 2 — Operator Display Unit (billet aluminium, fully custom)
A fully custom machined aluminium enclosure for a 12.1-inch touchscreen display. No COTS chassis — designed from scratch for CNC prototype
- Front bezel with display aperture, hardware button cutouts (function keys, emergency button, navigation keys), IP54 gasket seal, speakers, mic etc
- Rear housing with VESA 75×75 pattern and panel flush-mount clamp option
- Rear connector panel (M12 connectors, USB, HDMI, same PCB as above)

- Photorealistic renders of both assemblies (front, rear, rack-installed) in SolidWorks Visualize, KeyShot, or equivalent
- Installation scene showing both units deployed in context — clean technical illustration style for A1 exhibition print and investor decks
- Print-ready files at 300 DPI (PDF + PNG)
- Colour: Brand blue accents
Deliverables:
DXF + PDF drawings for all custom parts, STEP files, exploded assembly drawings, fastener schedule, thermal analysis, print-ready render files.
Deadline: Early-July 2026 (prototype build starts mid-end of July)

What we're looking for
- Strong SolidWorks portfolio covering both COTS chassis customisation and billet/CNC enclosure design
- Experience with ruggedised electronics enclosures preferred (any sector — defence, mining, telecoms, industrial)
- KeyShot, SolidWorks Visualize, or equivalent — portfolio must show product renders and installation visuals, not just CAD screenshots
- Available to start immediately and deliver drawings by early July 2026
- Do not apply if you cannot deliver both the mechanical design and the renders
