3D-Printable Foldable Clothes Hanger Design
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I’m seeking a skilled product designer to create a foldable clothes hanger that features a reusable, 3D-printable latch mechanism. The hanger must fold flat at the center and click securely into place with a single movement when unfolded. The design will support stackable storage in a dispenser, so compactness, simplicity, and printability are essential.
I will provide a rough concept drawing to guide your design process. The final product should be practical, ergonomic, and suitable for everyday use, while remaining optimized for 3D printing.
Key Design Requirements:
• Foldable at the center with a mechanical latch that is:
• Reusable (durable for repeated folding/unfolding)
• Secure (locks in place when open)
• Operated with a single motion (e.g. flip, press, or snap)
• The design must be:
• Simple and elegant
• 3D printable on standard FDM printers (minimal or no supports)
• Stackable in folded form to fit within a dispenser
• Mechanism should click into place audibly or tactilely when extended.
• All modeling must be done in OpenSCAD or FreeCAD, with a parametric structure for easy modification (e.g., hanger width, thickness, etc.).
Deliverables:
• Parametric source file (.scad or .FCStd)
• Exported STL file(s) for immediate test printing
• Assembly/use documentation if needed
• Notes on tolerances and print settings if relevant
Budget: $30
Timeline: Flexible – quality and usability are more important than speed.
Please include any prior work involving latches, folding objects, or 3D-printed mechanical parts. Looking forward to collaborating with a creative and technically precise designer.
