Pogo Pin Design for EV Battery Pack, Mobile Accessories, Semi Conductors and Medical Instruments
Budget: ₹750 – ₹1,250 INR
We are Veloping Technologies, a startup based in India, looking to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit for spring-loaded connectors (Pogo Pins). We require a specialized Mechanical Design Engineer to create a portfolio of high-performance pogo pins tailored for four distinct industries:
Mobile/Wearables: Ultra-miniaturized, waterproof (IP68) charging pins.
Two-Wheeler EV: High-current (30A–60A) battery management pins with vibration resistance.
Semiconductor: Fine-pitch (0.4mm–0.8mm) test probes for IC validation.
Medical: Non-magnetic, biocompatible pins for diagnostic instruments.
Scope of WorkThe selected designer will be responsible for:
Component Design: 3D CAD modeling of the Plunger (various tip styles) Barrel, and Internal Spring.
Architecture Selection: Implementing Bias-cut plungers or Ball-architecture to ensure low and stable contact resistance.Material & Plating Specs: Defining base metals (BeCu, Brass, Phosphor Bronze) and plating thickness (Gold over Nickel) based on industry standards.DFM (Design for Manufacturing): Ensuring all designs are optimized for Swiss-type CNC machining and automated assembly.
Technical Documentation: Providing detailed 2D manufacturing drawings with tolerances ($\pm 0.02mm$ or tighter) and STEP/IGES files.
Required SkillsExpertise in CAD: Proficiency in SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or AutoCAD.
Industry Knowledge: Proven experience in connector design or precision micro-machining.
Simulation Skills: Ability to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for spring force and Thermal Simulation for high-current pins is a major plus.Materials Science: Understanding of plating chemistry and metallurgy for electrical contacts.Deliverables3D Models (STEP/IGES) for 4 industry-specific pogo pin prototypes.2D Engineering Drawings with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Material Recommendation Report (Base metal + Plating specs).Estimated Spring Force and Current Rating data sheets.
Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience working with pogo pin manufacturers (e.g., Mill-Max, Yokowo, or CCP).Understanding of Indian manufacturing standards and MSME-scale production constraints.
