5:1 Planetary Gearbox Design in solidworks 2024
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I need a complete mechanical design for a 5:1 planetary gearbox that will mate directly to a DC motor. While the motor could be brushed, brushless, or even a stepper, I mainly need the gearbox side sorted out—so feel free to pick whichever interface is easiest to illustrate.
Core requirements
Need to be solidworks2024
• Reduction ratio: exactly 5 : 1
• Minimum of 12 distinct parts (carriers, sun/planet gears, housing, shafts, bearings, fasteners, etc.)
• Overall envelope no larger than 150 × 150 × 150 mm
• Sturdy, functional layout that a technician can assemble quickly without special jigs
Cost-effectiveness is my top performance priority, so please optimise part count, machining steps, and material choice. I’m open on materials; plastic, aluminium, or steel are all acceptable as long as you justify the selection.
Deliverables
1. Mechanical concept, including an exploded view that clearly shows the gear train and assembly order
2. CAD model (STEP or native SolidWorks/Fusion 360 is fine) plus 2-D drawings with critical tolerances and a simple parts list
3. Brief assembly guide or annotated screenshots so anyone can put the unit together without guesswork
