Parking Yard Flow Optimization

Budget: $50 – $150 AUD

I need a fresh set of expert eyes on our vehicle parking yard so we can finally solve the traffic-flow bottlenecks that slow everything down. Although overall capacity matters, the single most important outcome for this assignment is smoother, faster circulation in and out of the yard and between rows.

Current context
• Primary users: mixed fleet of cars and trucks; no buses are scheduled to use the space.
• Typical pain points: queue-ups at the entrance gate, awkward turning movements for larger units, and frequent cross-overs between incoming and outgoing lanes.

What I’m looking for
1. A revised yard layout (plan view) that clearly segments car and truck areas while preserving or improving total parking count.
2. Drive-aisle geometry and one-way/two-way recommendations that remove conflict points and shorten average travel time.
3. Supporting calculations or simulation snapshots that prove the proposal meets realistic peak-hour volumes.
4. A concise implementation roadmap highlighting any surface re-striping, curb relocations, or signage changes.

Preferred tools are flexible—AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Synchro, VISSIM, or similar packages are all acceptable as long as the deliverables are easy to read and ready for hand-off to our civil contractor.

Acceptance criteria
• Vehicles enter, park, and exit along clearly defined, non-conflicting paths.
• The design accommodates standard passenger cars and 40-ft trucks without multi-point turns.
• Documentation includes editable CAD files plus a short PDF narrative summarizing assumptions and improvements.
