3D Model Splitting & Custom Plug Design
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I'm seeking assistance with an AutoDesk Fusion model. The task is to split the model into two parts for 3D printing on my P1S, and to basic plug one end (I just haven't gotten to it yet).
Key Requirements:
- The end without screw holes should be plugged with a half-inch thick plastic circle.
- The model needs to be sliced near the base, in the thicker section, so that the base with screw holes is one piece and the top angled part is another.
- Where the pieces meets needs a press-fit contour for 3D printing.
- The design should allow the base to be screwed into a junction box, with the top piece snapping in and being rotatable to match my roof line.
I envision the interior being slightly thicker at the base to provide material for the contour/click-fit, with a bump fitting into a groove for a secure, yet adjustable fit.
Ideal skills:
- Proficiency in AutoDesk Fusion
- Experience in 3D model preparation for FDM printing
- Strong understanding of designing for press-fit assemblies
- Creative problem-solving for custom design requirements
As I'm also trying to learn, I'd love a video of you making these changes, I imagine this will come up again. I'm sure there are things I could have done in better ways, I'm not worried about that right now.

I will be printing in PETG. I want this back in the same .f3d format so I can modify more later if needed (different angles, etc)
