Mechanical Design- Experience with 2D or 3D Auxetic Design?

Job ID: 38307931

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I am in need of a mechanical designer for my project that understands auxetic patterns. The main goal of this project is to design a 2D pattern that can be diecut into a flat piece of elastomeric material, that when expanded, results in a 3D dome. Researching the various types of Auxetic patterns, it is my conclusion that a, Non-Bistable auxetic 2D Chiral pattern is what will be needed for my project.

PROJECT DETAILS:
- The end use of this design is to die cut a flat material.
- When the pattern is expanded, the flat material will change to a 3D Dome.
- The design should be NON-bistable, because the dome should be allowed to collapse and be flexible when the force that created the expansion is removed.
- The spacing of the gaps is relevant and must be taken into account.
- The product will be made from Expanded Silicone foam.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Evaluate and provide feedback regarding design direction, to ensure it is the most effective direction to proceed, before beginning any design.
- Inform me of the parameter values you need from me to create the design.
- Develop a design for the product, ensuring that the design aligns with the product specifications and requirements.
- Provide video or 3D rendered confirmation that the design properly stretches from original 2D state to 3D state.
-Project's native working file(s) would be set up to allow future design modification without having to rebuild the file from scratch.
-Once design is confirmed and approved, a flat .svg, or dwg file for use in the production of a cutting die, as well as the native files used to produce the pattern, is to be supplied to me.

SKILLS NEEDED:
- Previous experience creating/working with auxetic patterns.
- Familiarity with the Die Cutting processes.
- Foresight, and desire, to make me aware of possible pitfalls/concerns, before they come up.
-Ability to explain your needs in layman's terms (I am not an engineer)
- Ability to provide modeling samples.
