Make a 3D model from (or to match) a point cloud of a boat part
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I have an irregular shaped boat part (approximately 1 in x 1.5 in x 7 in) that I have scanned with photogrammetry and produced a point cloud. I would like someone to make/fit a solid model to that point cloud with planes, curves, surfaces.
To be clear the point cloud is somewhat noisy and is provided for a reference or to sample dimensions and lines from. The goal is not to take the point cloud, compute normal surfaces, and generate a bumpy/rough solid model. The goal is to trace out a solid model that matches the photos/scans. Photos of the part and screen shots of the point cloud are included. I will share the point cloud itself when we start. I can also provide specific measurements (thicknesses, etc) as requested by you in an iterative process. As this piece is largely cosmetic, many tolerances are loose (1/16th of an inch) with a few specific ones being tighter 1/32nd).
While this can not necessarily be clearly seen in the renderings, the surfaces are smooth, but many have a slight curve or taper and are not at a 90 degree angle. I would think you will sample the point cloud and request measurements (or photos) from which to approximate those curves. Additional photos with scales/grids can be taken to facilitate your work.
My intent is to take your resulting model and 3D print a duplicate part. There may be some optional paid follow up work to manipulate the model for other purposes.
This is a personal project and I am price sensitive when comparing bids, but I want to be respectful and appreciative of your talents and time.
I would like to receive your solid model in a format that I can 1) view/edit in some public domain tool, 2) I can generate an STL file for for 3D printing. As this is not my domain I will let you tell me what file formats make sense.
