Low Cost Remote Area Building Design
Budget: $25 – $50 AUD
We are looking for someone to assist us on an on-going basis with the design of low-cost buildings for construction in kit form in Australia, then to be shipped to various Pacific Islands for installation.
Design brief - we will need several designs, all suitable for construction using roll-formed Light Gauge Steel (LGS) for the majority of the primary structure as well as the wall and roof frames. A lack of knowledge of this process need not deter any interested designers because our primary need is for the Architectural contribution. We imagine the design work would be conducted using ArchiCAD, or similar, but we will need deliverables in various forms - rendered complete models with pseudo-realistic terrain/locations for the background, to use for marketing and promotion, and separated components of the model (walls, roof frames etc) provided in DWG/DXF format for developing the steel detailing work.
Examples of the buildings we require are - low-set and high-set three bedroom houses from as small as 40sqm up to 90sqm, first aid posts of about 60sqm, schoolrooms of about 160sqm.
Attached are some images showing an example of what we have in mind for a three bedroom high-set house. Note that while we are looking for designs to build and supply at low cost, we do require an attractive and modern look, so the successful contributor will have a knowledge of, and flair for contemporary design concepts.
