In-Law Suite Integration Plan-change purpose
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I have the full floor plan of an existing home and need a practical concept that folds its current in-law suite into the main layout so the whole place feels like one cohesive home. My wife and I both work from home and we have three young kids, so the reimagined space has to balance productivity, play, and a possible workout/flex zone without pushing the renovation budget into the stratosphere.
What must change
• The in-law Kitchen and Living area are on the chopping block; show me how they can be removed or repurposed to serve family life.
• The suite should link to the rest of the ground floor through an open hallway or a clever room-reassignment that eliminates any apartment-within-a-house vibe.
• Flow, daylight, and noise separation for work calls all matter, but keep structural moves as light as possible.
What I need from you
1. An annotated floor plan (PDF) that clearly marks walls to demo, walls to keep, and the new room functions—including a children’s play area and a dedicated workout or flexible multipurpose spot.
2. A concise design brief (one page is fine) explaining why your layout works and at least two alternate tweaks in case we shift priorities.
3. A ballpark cost breakdown by trade (demo, framing, finishes, MEP, contingency) so I can judge whether buying this house still makes sense.
