Land Rover Door Reverse Engineering
Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
Job Title
Reverse Engineering: Convert Small STL Edge Scan (Land Rover L663 Door) to SolidWorks / Parasolid
Project Description
Overview:
I have a very small, clean 3D scan (.STL format, ~3.5 MB) capturing just an edge section of a rear right car door from a Land Rover Defender L663 (110).
I need an experienced professional to reverse engineer this specific edge geometry into a clean, precise solid body optimised for SolidWorks. My primary objective is to have a mathematically accurate model from which I can easily extract design profiles, guide curves, and edge radii within my CAD environment.
Software & Technical Requirements:
Primary Tools: Must use Geomagic Design X to process the mesh and accurately extract the profiles.
Accuracy: High accuracy on the edge profile is crucial. The final CAD geometry must match the scan data with minimal deviation.
Deliverables:
Native SolidWorks Part file (.sldprt).
Parasolid (.x_t) as the primary geometry format.
STEP (.stp) as a backup exchange format.
The native Geomagic Design X project file (.xrl).
Ideal Freelancer Requirements:
Proven track record with automotive surface modeling or sheet metal edge reverse engineering.
High proficiency in Geomagic Design X and SolidWorks.
Ability to share a screenshot of a deviation analysis color map before final hand-off to prove geometric accuracy along the edge.
