Insulated Timber Frame Redesign
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I already have 16’ x 24’ timber-frame drawings that the Leelanau County building department accepted structurally, but they are drawn as an open, non-insulated structure. I now want to enclose the frame with continuous exterior insulation and introduce a moderate shed roof / lean-to in place of the current roof layout.
Here is what I need from you:
• Update the roof structure so it supports the new moderate shed profile while allowing for an uninterrupted insulation layer on the outside of the frame.
• Revise wall details and any pertinent sections so the whole envelope meets Michigan energy-code requirements for an insulated assembly.
• Deliver clean, permit-ready drawings (PDF + CAD if you work that way) that I can forward directly to the Leelanau County reviewers.
I won’t ask for long proposals—just show relevant experience modifying timber-frame or post-and-beam plans for insulation upgrades and shed roofs, ideally with examples you’ve taken through code review.
